NORMAN KLEIN

Bleeding Through Layers of Los Angeles, 1920-1986

Author of The History of Forgetting: Los Angeles and the Erasure of Memory, cultural theorist Norman Klein was the glue that brought Labyrinth and ZKM together on our transmedia collaboration, Bleeding Through Layers of Los Angeles, 1920-1986. Co-directed by Labyrinth’s Rosemary Comella and ZKM’s Andreas Kratky, this DVD-ROM featured Norman as a boxed-in, on-screen narrator, whom the user could turn on or off. His literary adaptation, “Bleeding Through” (accompanied by essays from Jeffrey Shaw, Comella, Kratky and me) was released with the disc.
